Worthing's Highdown Gardens wins crucial HLF funding.

Celebrations are underway after Worthing's world-famous gardens at Highdown received a major financial boost to help preserve their future.

Supported by Mackellar Schwerdt, with their work on the designs for the new Visitor Centre and Entrance alterations, Adur and Worthing Borough Council have secured more than £800,000 of National Lottery funding for this 'jewel in the crown' site, which will help to enhance the visitor experience and promote access to the exotic rare plants that grow there. The 8.5 acre gardens, internationally important because they are home to hundreds of rare plants and trees uniquely grown on chalk soil, are visited by tens of thousands of people every year.
